Our waiter and the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly. The menu is fairly large. We started with steamed shumai, which I get every time I eat Japanese. They were great. We each got an entree and sushi. The sushi was fabulous, although a bit pricier than other Japanese restaurants in the area. I had Chicken Yakisoba and it was very tasty. Lots of chicken and veggies.

I am very pleased with my experience here and will definitely be coming back.

The service, atmosphere, and most importantly food were all AMAZING! This is a family-owned Japanese restaurant at which the staff and sushi chefs are actually Japanese. The staff is very friendly, and service is quick, courteous, and unobtrusive. You definitely feel welcome here.

The food was prepared simply, but all the ingredients tasted really fresh, it was expertly cooked, and I LOVED the teriyaki sauce (I normally don’t care for it). The sushi was very good as well, especially the Kamikaze and Tokyo Mama specialty rolls. The miso was delicious (a good sign), as was the salad dressing. They provide complimentary hors d’oeuvres too. Very classy!

We had a large enough group that we sat in the private back room.  Service was great all night long.  First I had the vegetarian ball, which was amazing.  It tasted like the best crab Rangoon that I’ve ever had!  Although others had ordered the Matsu balls, they soon abandoned those and took my balls!  Then came the sushi.  I was hesitant about what to order, but got the Funky Roll and a Philadelphia Roll.  Each were delicious, tasted very fresh!  

I was so pleased with Matsu Sushi and can’t wait to go back.  Unfortunately it is a little bit out of the way, so I haven’t been back yet.

The shop itself has the best deals where bento boxes are only about $8, and the makis are 2x the size as the regular serving for the same price.

ALEX ROLL (4.5 stars): aka Salmon avocado roll. Though it’s a large maki, I can’t deny the slightly brown tint in the avocado.

SPICY SALMON ROLL (5 stars): another maki with generous portions of rice and salmon.

SKY ROLL (3 stars): Crab salad, cucumber roll, and seaweed salad all in 1 great package! Pick them apart separately, otherwise you wouldn’t know wthell you’re eating.

LOBSTER ROLL (4 stars): Cucumber + Real lobster (unlike Sweeet Ginger). The lobster roll here is equivalent to 2 rolls elsewhere.

The servers are very polite && attentive. I made the mistake of walking in 30 minutes before close, but they still served me w/ a smile and fulfilled little requests for the rest of the customers who were just chillen.

As far as platters, I’ve had both the teriyaki and yakisoba and enjoyed them thoroughly.

Their sushi was presented very well; the cuts on the fish were perfectly portioned and just the right size. The fish and rice were very fresh. Their miso soup held a good mix of water and miso paste, thus not tasting too salty. The salad dressing they use had a very odd taste/texture to it. It was very grainy, as if they hand-made it and ground the ginger to a rough paste consistency (sort of like crunchy peanut butter). The taste of it was also different from most Japanese establishments as it didn’t have a good sweet and sour mix. Other than that, all of the handmade stuff were really good and on par with sushi places in Tokyo (where I’ve eaten sushi almost all my life).

I’m game to come back here despite it being a bit out of the way from where I live. It is definitely one of the better places to get sushi from and would recommend this place over others in the area.
